Mr. Hawley was the first Republican senator to publicly announce that he would oppose the results in key states won by President Joe Biden. He denied that raising his fist was an attempt to incite the protesters. “I didn’t encourage the rioters… While we were out there, people were gathering peacefully to protest, and they have a right to do that.
