When opened, a floating zirconium alloy middle plate rises slightly to support the flexible AMOLED frame, making the fold less visible. Vivo Like the Huawei Mate X2 and Oppo Find N, the X Fold also adopted a water drop-down hinge design to achieve gap-free folding while minimizing the creasing of its foldable AMOLED panel. But the Vivo took things a step further: when it opens, a floating middle plate of zirconium alloy rises to gently push against the flexible frame, smoothing out the remaining fold. Although this sounds impressive, we have to look at it closely to believe it. According to TÜV Rheinland, Vivo’s X Fold can survive more than 300,000 folds – 100,000 more than the Oppo Find N. certification Assuming an average user would open and close a folding phone 80 times a day, the X Fold should be suitable for about 10 years of daily use. This is, of course, assuming you can tolerate the weight of 311 g for such a long time. The latest foldable large sizes from Samsung and Huawei weigh only 271 g and 295 g, respectively. The Vivo X Fold has a 50MP main camera, an ultra-wide 48MP camera, a 12MP portrait camera and an 8MP periscope camera with 5x optical zoom. Vivo For a foldable phone, the Vivo X Fold has a surprisingly powerful set of cameras. For one, this is only the second foldable phone to feature a peripheral zoom camera (8MP, 5x optical zoom, optical image stabilization), after the Huawei Mate X2. The X Fold also comes with a 50MP main camera (Samsung GN5 sensor, f / 1.75, optical image stabilization), ultra-wide 48MP camera (Sony IMX598, f / 2.2, 114-degree field of view, low distortion) and 12MP portrait camera (IMX663, f / 1.98, equivalent focal length 47 mm). And yes, you have Zeiss T * coating here for its anti-glare properties. It is a similar setting to the X70 Pro +, except for the lack of micro-antigen and the lack of optical stabilization on two of the cameras. The Vivo X Fold has an external 21: 9 screen and an internal folding screen 4: 3.55. Vivo In terms of screen aspect ratio, the Vivo was installed somewhere between the tall Galaxy Z Fold 3 and the wide Oppo Find N. The external display is a 6.53-inch panel 2.520 x 1,080 (21: 9), while the main screen has 8 -Panel 2,160 x 1,916 inches (4: 3.55). Both are Samsung E5 AMOLED and support a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz, but only the larger panel has an adjustable refresh rate for further energy savings. These monitors also have their own 16MP f / 2.45 selfie cameras, though you can always turn on the phone and change the “back selfie” mode to take advantage of the more powerful cameras. Vivo Like its competitors, some of the built-in X Fold applications – built into Android 12-based OriginOS Ocean – take advantage of the foldable form factor. For example, the camera app offers a kickstand function that is convenient for videos with time lapse and low angle shots. You can also use the device as a laptop with the built-in Notes application, as well as Chinese third-party applications such as QQ for video calling and Youku for video streaming. Hopefully Vivo will extend these benefits to Western applications before a possible international release. There is still a list of features that are worth mentioning. The 4,600 mAh dual cell battery supports 66 W wired and 50 W wireless charging, along with 10 W reverse charging to help your friends in need. In fact, the X Fold comes with a USB-PD GaN 80W charger with two USB-C ports, so you can charge your laptop with it as well. The phone itself also features a Hi-Fi Cirrus Logic CS43131 chip (although there is no 3.5 mm headphone jack), three microphones, stereo speakers, a barometer, various heat dissipation functions and an infrared port – a common feature in Chinese telephones for controlling home appliances. And for the first time, Vivo has added a natural silent slider, which otherwise only appears on Apple and OnePlus devices these days. Vivo The Vivo X Fold is already available for pre-order in China, with the 12 GB version with 256 GB of storage asking for 8,999 yuan (about $ 1,410) and the higher-end version with double the storage at 9,999 yuan ($ 1,570). You can choose either blue or gray, both wrapped in vegan leather on the back. All products offered by Engadget are selected by our editorial team, regardless of our parent company.
