The full text of the announcement is as follows: The Ontario government protects Crown land by making individuals responsible when they leave their personal property on public land. Timmins’s Ralph Miller was found guilty in absentia of leaving his trailer and other personal belongings on the Crown mainland when his Pharand Lake boat was launched in Pharand Township just west of Timmins. This was Miller’s second offense and he was fined $ 7,000. The court heard that on January 10, 2018, a maintenance officer encountered a caravan trailer that had been left to launch boats on Lake Pharand during the winter. In May 2018, maintenance officers gave Miller a ticket and instructed him to move his camper as he was at the same location for more than 21 days. Miller did not pay for his ticket, nor did he move his camp. A maintenance officer later discovered that Miller had left his camp in Crown land again at the same location in the winter of 2019. Miller was subsequently indicted and failed to appear on several scheduled court dates. The trailer was eventually removed from the site. Peacemaker Jean-Marie Blier heard the case remotely in the Ontario Court, Timmins, on March 24, 2022.
