The Opposition’s women and gender equality critic is “disappointed” at revelations the commission he struck to tackle equal pay has not met for three years. The information came from a recent ATTIPP request from the CBC. Helen Conway-Ottenheimer has raised the issue of equal pay legislation in the House of Commons several times, but has yet to receive any firm commitment from the relevant minister, Pam Parsons. Newfoundland and Labrador is one of the few jurisdictions in the country without equity legislation. He says the latest revelation proves the government is not taking the issue seriously.
