Brian Kemp. The spending appears to be aimed at boosting former Sen. David Perdue, whom Trump has backed in the Democratic primary, but the ad never mentions Perdue by name. GOVERNOR AGRICULTURE 2022: WHERE THE CANDIDATE IS STANDING ON KEY ISSUES It’s the first major expense of Trump’s Save America PAC, underscoring Trump’s continued obsession with defeating Kemp. Trump considers Keb unfaithful because he refused to help reverse his defeat in the state presidential election in 2020. The ad criticizes Kemp for not doing enough to combat voter fraud, citing discredited allegations made by a Georgian law enforcement agency that it has rejected and rejected. The Save America PAC entered the year with $ 120 million in cash. But so far, the former president has been reluctant to spend that money on small donations to candidates and the money spent on rallies he now holds almost every week. Federal campaign records show that the donation went to a group called Get Georgia Right PAC in March, as first reported by Politico. The ad began airing earlier this month, according to Kantar Media. The Associated Press also received a copy of a text message sent by the group urging people to view the ad. The spending comes at a time when Perdue is lagging behind in the polls and is being spent by Kemp. Perdue, who is worth $ 50 million, has suggested he could win some of his own money. “We will make sure this thing is well funded,” Perdue told reporters in March. “We will pass on our message.” Kemp remains dismissive of Trump, with spokesman Cody Hall attacking Perdie over remarks made by the challenger on Tuesday, criticizing Kemp’s handling of police. “David Perdy will need a lot more than $ 500,000 to distract himself from his indescribable fuss over the Georgia State Patrol,” Hall said. A Perdie defeat in Georgia in the state election on May 24 could be particularly embarrassing for Trump, who recruited Perdue to challenge Kemp and pressured another Republican – Vernon Jones – to step down. governor and run for Congress. Trump has also backed an extensive list of other Republicans in Georgia running for office across the state and in Congress. Trump called Kemp a “turnaround,” a “coward,” and a “complete and utter disaster” at a rally in Commerce, Georgia last month. But the former president was unrestrained in an April 6 interview with conservative radio presenter John Fredericks about whether he would hold an additional rally for Perdue. He told Fredericks that “it is not easy to defeat a sitting ruler, just remember that”, adding that “it is a close fight and we will see what happens”. Perdue has parroted Trump’s lies in his own attacks on Kemp, telling a Commerce rally that “our 2020 election was completely stolen.”
