David Phelan Just because the public beta for iOS 16 is out, it doesn’t mean that Apple is done with its current general release software, iOS 15. More details have now emerged about iOS 15.6, including more than three dozen security vulnerabilities. Which iPhones can run iOS 15.6?
If you have a device running iOS 14, you’re sorted. Impressively, Apple has ensured that every iPhone capable of iOS 14 also runs iOS 15. That’s quite an achievement, spanning every device released in the past six years. In other words, every iPhone from the iPhone 6s onwards includes all three iPhone SE generations. That won’t be the case with iOS 16, by the way, which is for iPhones from the iPhone 8 onwards. For iPad, you can use iPadOS 15.6 if you have an iPad Pro, any iPad Air from iPad Air 2, iPad mini 4 or later, and iPad from the fifth generation or later.
How to get it
Updating is easy: open the Settings app on the device, then select General, then Software Update. Once you click Download and Install, it will do everything for you. In a few minutes, you’ll be good to go—it’s not a huge update.
What’s in circulation

Note that this does not change the rating for the better. Other updates are important, even if they aren’t game-changing. There is an issue where Settings kept showing that the device storage was full even when it wasn’t. This has also been addressed. A Safari issue where a tab reverted to a previous page has also been fixed, claimed. And an issue that caused braille devices to slow down or stop responding when navigating text in email is also being sorted, Apple says.
