Vernon RCMP advise that the driver involved in a collision with an elderly man in a wheelchair on Sunday has been located and is cooperating with police. RCMP are continuing to investigate the incident, in which a 68-year-old disabled man was struck by a car in the alley in the 3300 block of 43rd Avenue. The man, Thomas Young, was taken to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Young says he was “wide,” hitting his wheelchair at an angle greater than 45 degrees. He says the female driver “didn’t show much concern” and drove off while Young checked the chair to see if it was still drivable. Police are asking anyone who witnessed the incident or has dash cam footage to contact the Vernon RCMP at 250-545-7171 and quote police file 2022-1226.
