Sault Ste. Maie Nenonen, a native of Marie and a Western University student, has been identified as the student who lost her life when she was hit by a car in the London Ont. on Monday. A Twitter statement from University President Alan Shepard states: “I share with great sadness that Maija Nenonen, a first-year Business Administration student at the Ivey School of Business, was the victim of a tragic off-campus accident yesterday.” A few details were released by the police, who said that the driver of the vehicle involved remained at the scene. A landscaping truck and a trailer could be seen in the parking lot on Monday, which was blocked by police tape, a Global News report reports. Nenonen was found dead at the scene. Police have not publicly identified her as a victim. “Maija started at Western in Health Science in 2018 and after three years at Health Science, she transferred to Ivey. “Maija’s family shared that they had dreamed of attending Western long before applying for 12th grade schools,” Shepard wrote. Nenonen started her time at Western four years ago as a health science student in 2018, moving to Ivey in 2021.
