A woman who admitted to plotting to kill her husband has spent thousands of dollars raised by a GoFundme on the man accused of the murder. Jennifer Faith, 49, pleaded guilty in February to plotting to “cold-bloodedly kill” her husband Jamie, who was shot seven times by a masked man while the couple was walking his dog in Dallas in October 2020. Police have charged Faith’s “friend” Darin Lopez with murder and are awaiting trial after he pleaded not guilty. In the days following Mr Faith’s assassination, a GoFundme fundraising account set up to provide financial support to the Faith family by neighbor Jennifer Svelan raised more than $ 60,000. “It was shocking to see how many people contributed and donated,” Ms Svelan said. Jennifer Faith also appeared on television in the days after the murder to ask the gunman to appear. Court documents show Jennifer Faith gave Mr. Lopez gifts, including a Samsung QLED widescreen TV and airline tickets, and gave him access to her credit cards, according to a new 48 Hours CBS documentary. He wrote in an email to Mr Lopez: “Here are my two big CCs. “AMEX has no limit and I think Visa has about $ 35,000 … PLEASE do not hesitate to use them for whatever you need, especially when they are things for girls.” Jennifer Faith withdrew $ 58,000 from GoFundme in two months, leaving an unpaid $ 6,500 bill for her husband’s funeral, according to authorities. A GoFundme account created for Jennifer Faith raised more than $ 60,000 (U.S. District Court for North Texas) Faith and Mr. Lopez exchanged more than 14,000 calls and messages during the month of the murder. Former friends and neighbors who contributed to GoFundme say they feel betrayed. Ms Svelan told 48 Hours: “I see it more as not stealing from GoFundMe but stealing from her family, her friends, her community; people who loved Jamie. He stole from him. “ He said GoFundme had compensated people who had donated to the family after learning of Faith’s fraud. Federal prosecutors initially charged Faith with obstruction of justice in February 2021, before adding a cross-border trade charge to the October hire murder, which carries a possible death sentence. The story goes on Faith pleaded guilty to the charge of murder for hire in February 2021 and prosecutors recommended a life sentence. “Even as she wept over her late husband on television, Ms. Faith corresponded with his killer, plotting to cover up their crime,” said U.S. Attorney Chad Micham at the time of her acquittal. Jennifer Faith also tried to claim a $ 629,000 life insurance policy a month after the murder of her husband, American Airlines technology director. The Office of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives Officer Jeffrey K. Bosek II said Faith was not only responsible for her husband’s murder, but had manipulated “family, friends and caregivers.”
