The incident started around 9:10 p.m. in the area of ​​Selkirk Avenue and McKenzie Street, when Winnipeg police officers tried to stop traffic in a car with expired insurance. Police said the driver did not stop and left, but police did not pursue him. Shortly afterwards, the car crashed into a building on the 500 block of Selkirk Avenue. The driver, a 27-year-old, was transported in critical condition to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The Traffic Department is investigating.
