Emergency crews responded to Burnhamthorpe Road and The East Mall around 8 p.m.  for conflict reports.
The Toronto Fire Department responded to the scene and said a car was involved in a collision with a five-ton truck.
Images from a scene on Burnhamthorpe Street, east of Martin Grove Street, showed a small black vehicle falling on a hydroelectric pole next to a church.
Police vehicles were seen in a second scene on Burnhamthorpe Street and Highway 427.
Peel District Police said they responded to a third collision involving the first two, that on Dixie Road and Queensway in Mississauga around 8:09 p.m.
Seven vehicles were involved in the collision and a woman was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
A man has been taken into custody in connection with the clash, Peel police said.
Surveillance footage from the area reported to CP24 shows a white smoking van stopping at a construction site before police officers enter a race and arrest the driver.
Police have not yet said what charges they may face.
